Adam and I have officially decided to make some lifestyle changes in the hopes of getting pregnant faster.
If you didn’t see last months blog post I opened up about how Adam and I have been trying to have a baby for several months with no luck. You can see more backstory in that post, but we are officially at 5 months of trying.
To see what we’re switching up after some advice from friends, family, and some intense googling keep reading!
Getting off Unnecessary Medications
Adam has been taking hair loss medication for the last few years since male pattern baldness runs in his family. However, since this is only an aesthetic choice we decided that he should get off it for the time being. Taking the medication can
If you or your spouse are taking any medication I recommend talking to your doctor and seeing if it could have any negative effects on fertility. If you find out it does, discuss if taking a break is a possibility.
Less Alcohol
Adam and I aren’t big drinkers, to begin with, but we’ve been taking multiple hiatuses from drinking with friends and family.
While this hasn’t been purely a fertility based decision, it does help up your chances of getting pregnant! Plus you don’t have to worry about the possibility of drinking before you find out you’re pregnant if you just abstain from it.
Resting
I can be anti naps sometimes TBH. However, I’ve been soaking them up a bit more and allowing myself more relaxation time.
If you’re a go-go-go personality type, I know this can be super hard. I’m not even the most driven person I know, and it still makes me feel guilty to lay down in the middle of the day.
However, rest is essential if you’re trying to get pregnant. Stress has a huge impact on your body’s ability to sustain a healthy pregnancy.
I’m Switching to Non-Toxic Beauty
I’ve been hearing a lot about how the chemicals (parabens, etc.) in makeup and skincare mess with your bodies hormones.
For that reason, I have decided to make the switch to non-toxic beauty. Along with that, I’m also switching to non-toxic cleaning supplies.
I will be reviewing many of the clean product alternatives I test on the blog, so make sure to keep your eye out! The first clean beauty product I’ve reviewed was Fusion Minerals Curling Mascara.
I Stopped Tracking my Period
As soon as we decided we wanted to start trying for a baby I immediately attempted to track my cycle.
This ended up being more frustrating and emotionally exhausting than necessary. My cycle wasn’t consistent and my app would give me false hope when my period was late. Because of this, I decided to stop tracking my period and to let it happen at
Ultimately, since I stopped tracking my period I have had less stress and anxiety around getting pregnant. Hopefully the reduced stress will help my body be able to get pregnant easier.
Taking Prenatals
I’ve been taking prenatal vitamins for a while now, but have not been very consistent with it.
One of my goals this coming month is to take them every day just as directed. Prenatal vitamins can have a huge impact on helping you to get pregnant faster. Many doctors recommend you take supplements with folic acid while trying to conceive to help prepare your uterus to house a baby.
I have been using The Honest Company’s prenatal bundle which goes for $35.95.
Stopping Unhealthy Habits
Along with everything else on this list, we have ultimately been trying to squash any habits or actions that may effect us not conceiving.
However, we are well aware at the same time that our lifestyle changes may not have any effect on when we conceive. Throughout this journey, we are making sure to put our trust in God’s timing and we know it will happen when God has planned for it.
