Hey friends! Being a homemaker is such a beautiful and important job. Even so, sometimes it can be hard to stay motivated and find encouragement to continue doing our daily work.

That is why I wanted to share with you all some tips and tricks that I have found to help me whenever I’m in a slump! We all have those days where we’d just like to stay in bed – but we can’t always give in to our fleshes desires. I hope you find these tips as useful as I have!

Get Ready Every Day

It’s almost impossible to muster up the energy for the day’s work ahead when you look like you did when you went to sleep. Make it a point to treat your homemaking job like any other job outside of the house, and get ready for the day.

This doesn’t mean you need to do full-glam all the time, but it does mean looking presentable enough where you’d be comfortable with drop-in visitors or running last-minute errands. It’s not only good to be prepared for the unexpected, but it’s also just nice to care for yourself a little bit every day.

Get Your Daily Tasks Out of the Way First

The cleaning to-do’s that need to be done daily are usually the ones that become the most mundane and boring. Think about it, who enjoys making their bed, doing laundry, dishes, and cleaning up clutter? Not that many people!

Although these are some of the most dreaded chores, they typically take up the least amount of time. Start your day off with these small tasks before conquering your larger chores. This will help you check off the chores you like the least, and get you feeling extra productive right off the bat.

Have a Physical To-do List

Having a to-do list is helpful for two reasons: one, you will have an idea of how to manage your time, and two, you will get instant gratification every time you check something off your list!

Multi-Task When You Can

Housework is not always the most mentally engaging work, but luckily with modern technology, it’s easy to clean our homes and educate ourselves at the same time!

While you are cleaning your home consider listening to an audiobook, podcast, or worship playlist. This is a great way to mentally stimulate and focus your mind on positive things all well maintaining your home. If you are looking for some new podcasts to listen to, consider checking out my favorites here.

Be in the Word

Being in the word and praying daily is so transformative! Seriously, centering your mind each and every day on eternal things helps you realize how important the seemingly small tasks of every day are. It’s the small things you do every day that creates the culture of your family. Do you joyfully walk in your role or do you resent it? Your attitude towards your role will affect your family’s attitude towards their roles.

All that is to say, it’s easy to forget the cruciality of our role as homemakers and helpers to our husband if we aren’t continuously in the word. Culture tells us our role is not enough, so it’s exponentially important to be washing ourselves with the truth of God’s word daily. If you don’t have time to read every day, try listening to the audio Bible while you do chores.

Get Some Fresh Air or Exercise

Having a change of scenery can be so important if you are having a hard time staying motivated. Try to get out of the house, or take time to workout out at least 3 days a week. This little break from your daily routine will help you feel refreshed and ready to work in your home.

Set a Timer for Breaks

Getting sucked into a time warp while checking social media is way too easy! Safeguard your productivity by timing all your breaks.

Have a Clear End to Your Day

This tip is like the first, treat your homemaking role as any other job outside of the home. Just like any other job outside of the home, you would have a clear work week and schedule. Knowing when your day ends is essential to help keep you motivated to finish your work throughout the day.

Of course, if you have kids your work never fully ends, but you can plan a time every evening where your chores and errands typically end.
